Footsteps Eco-Lodge gives you a holiday in The Gambia,
away from the tourist areas, but with access to all of The Gambia's beauty.
The beach is about ten minutes drive
from Footsteps. A driver will take you there and bring you back,
or you can walk, enjoy the Flora and Fauna and relax or take a swim on arrival,
or you can take a fishing trip, very enjoyable even if you have never fished
before. For a more ambitious trip try a 'Discover the River' trip.
The Abuko Nature Reserve
and Lamin Lodge are must for all bird and nature lovers. A guide will take you
around the reserve walking amongst the monkeys. You may also see crocodiles,
antelope, hyenas plus an abundance of bird life.
Visit the museum in Tanji and discover the culture of the Gambians. Whilst there
you can watch the weaver work, see the blacksmiths making jewelry and visit the
museum shop where you can purchase locally produced goods. Stop off at the Bantaba
for refreshments and traditional African music.
The nightlife centres around the Senagambia which is the main tourist area and
is approximately 45 minutes from the Lodge. We will arrange transport to take
you into town for a spot of nightlife or just a meal. However we
do have regular dancing
and drumming evenings and our own superb fresh food restaurant.

An eco
lodge may not sound the ideal place for a disabled person to spend their
holiday. But be sure it is.
The lodge is all on one level.
There are very few steps (other than to the
upper dining room, access to the lower dining room is
unrestricted) anywhere in the lodge. Access to all facilities are
through doors 790mm wide, well suited to wheel chairs. Bathroom
facilities are en-suite, again on the same level as the guests room.
Transport to and from the airport is by our own vehicles, so we are
aware of guests problems.
Excursions in our transport will allow you to
see The Gambia at your own pace.
